BENEFITING: Saha Global
Globally, 1.3 billion people, over 18% of the world’s population, live without electricity. Access to electricity improves fuel efficiency, access to education, quality of life, and quality of healthcare while also increasing productivity, reducing carbon emissions and helping to prevent de-forestation.
Let me spark your interest: I need to raise $2,950 to cover start up costs of a Solar Energy business in Ghana. This money will go directly toward the solar panels, generators, and other supplies necessary to start the business. While there I will be working to empower women through opportunity.
Hello everyone! My name is Danielle Marx and I am sophomore at La Salle University. This summer (June 8-29), I am incredibly fortunate to have been given the opportunity to be traveling to Ghana as a Saha Global field representative. While there I will be working with women entrepreneurs to help build solar powered charging stations in order to bring power to communities in Ghana. These women entrepreneurs will generate revenue from these businesses by renting out rechargeable batteries and allowing others to charge electronics for a fee. Allow me to close this circuit by saying that long after I leave, this business model will sustain itself.
They will increase both their community’s economic activity and their own financial mobility through this business.
Since the start of Saha Global’s program in 2008, all 82 businesses (74 water, 8 solar) are still operating today.
