Generations For Peace (GFP) was founded in 2007 as a volunteer movement with a mission to empower youth to lead and cascade sustainable change in communities experiencing conflict. Since then, GFP has trained and mentored more than 11,400 youth volunteers in 50 countries in the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Europe, with plans to launch its first-ever programs in the United States in 2019. GFP’s volunteer-led programs address local issues of conflict and violence, and have reached more than 520,000 children, youth and adults.
Just 12 years after being founded, GFP is ranked #29 in the “Top 500 NGOs in the World” by NGO Advisor based on innovation, impact and governance, making GFP the #2 anti-violence and #3 peacebuilding organization in the world. In this time, GFP has achieved rapid global growth, learnt an enormous amount and gone through “proof of concept,” developing its approach in different contexts and demonstrating the success, impact, and sustainability of its model. GFP has received support from governments, UN agencies, non-governmental foundations, the Olympic Movement, corporate partners and individuals. GFP is registered as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt non-profit in the U.S. (EIN 46-1577158) and an NGO in Jordan. It employs 65 staff representing 15 nationalities.
