Ok people, we are running again...for Glen:) Couldn't be happier about it!
Thank you all so much for your huge support last year.
I will try to redeem myself from last years puking episodes at miles 18 and 19...whoops.... and Muffy "never leave your wingman" White deserves to finish a marathon the proper way.
Although we came in fast and strong...we lost about an hour to nausea and torn tendons.... look out NYC we are coming back, with a simple agenda....no puking!!!
We have already started training and have had some great runs and high altitude hikes. Gabby Muffy and I hiked Ballard Peak in Telluride a few weeks ago. It was gorgeous. It was the last hike that I had done with Glen on one of his trips to Telluride. He had arrived from sea level (encinitas ca) at about midnight and we stayed up until 3am drinking red wine, laughing, and teasing eachother. The next morning at 7am we started our journey up to the top of the almost 13,000 foot peak. Almost immediately he started sweating profusely....he had lost the ability to "cool" off somewhere in Afganastan ...a side effect from wearing all of the heavy clothing and weaponry that he daily donned. He was really struggling until I offered to take his pack and carry it for him...of course in the beginning he resisted....but then he actually gave the pack to me and I hiked the rest of the way up with it...It took him quite a while, I giggled while sitting at the top waiting for him to summit, but eventually he made it. He had not even been in Telluride 12 hours:)
On the way down, he wanted the pack back, I of course refused to give it to him. Citing the reason as " I am going to tell EVERYONE that I carried your pack."
:) sorry bud, had to....too funny not to share:)
Please consider donating. Thank you so much.

The Glen Doherty Memorial Foundation is honored to partner with the TCS NYC Marathon. This is our 2nd year participating! Team GDMF 2015 raised nearly $45,000 to provide scholarships for special operations soldiers, like Glen, and their families. Please help our 7 runners beat this goal and help us to raise over $50,000 this year!
Your generous donations are given to GDMF Scholars like Dave Dauphinais. Dave is one of our recent 2015 scholars. Dave is a former Navy SEAL currently pursuing a joint MBA and Masters in Public Policy at both Harvard and Dartmouth. He was honored and humbled to receive this award in Glen's name.
