The new van!
March 23, 2017
Franchesca Stimming is a 16 year old 11th grader at The New Village School in Sausalito. She is doing her Social Practical at a small school in South Africa, serving children ages 3 to 7. A week after her arrival she called home to share plans to raise money for the purchase of a new van because the current one is no longer dependable. Below is what she wrote: Funimfundo is a lovely little school located outside the South African village of Stanford, right next to the informal settlement of "Die Kop". I came here to work alongside the teachers and help in whatever way I am able. The first time I rode in the van to pick the children up from their village near the school I was a bit shocked. The conditions in which they live is like nothing I have ever seen before. The van the school is using to transport the children is falling apart and they desperately need a new one. Please help me raise the funds needed to help this beautiful community acquire reliable transportation which will allow the children access to a wonderful Education and its many values. Thank you all, Frankie
