"Friends of Fontaine" is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is "to foster growth and development in Haiti through education and health care."
At Friends of Fontaine, we believe that the future of Haiti lies in the quality education of our students. We are a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting community-based development in Fontaine, Haiti. We believe every child has a right to an education, and are striving to make that belief a reality in Fontaine.
Our goal is to provide high-quality secondary education so our students may confidently face the challenges of life in rural Haiti, and lead their community to a better future.
We are a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting community-based development through a secondary school in Fontaine, Haiti. Since our founding in 2011, other parishes, colleges, and organizations have joined our family and continue support for our mission. Today, that school has become St. Gabriel's School, and continues to be a strong resource in the community and through it, we are building and creating change through education and outreach.
Though our work is ongoing and relies solely on sponsorships and donations to continue, we have much to celebrate after a decade of accomplishments. Through partnerships with various schools and universities in the US, we've bolstered our educational programs with bi-annual missions to Fontaine. Haiti is without municipal electricity; we have managed to build a solar grid to power the school and neighboring homes in Fontaine. We've built a 3 1/2 acre garden plot on the school grounds that is fecund and fruitful, and is maintained by the student body. We've installed a water filtration unit to provide the entire community with clean drinking water. Our "hot meal" program ensures every student eats daily - a luxury for many in this region. Basic healthcare is now accessible for the community; it is unheard of for many.
Thank you for your interest in our work - we hope you'll join us in an effort to make positive and lasting changes to the lives of those that need it most.
