The purposes of the Friendship Nile Historical society:
a. To disseminate and encourage a greater knowledge of the history of Friendship, Nile, and their environs. In order to accomplish that goal, the historical society meets once a month (2nd Saturday of every month from 10:00am to 11:00am) to review any open items, share news, articles collected about the history of towns. The meeting is attended by the board members, members and the Town historian. The meeting is held in the Fire hall meeting room and is open to anyone interested in attending. The town historical represents the Friendship, Nile Historical society in meetings around the region and reports back to the historical society about any pertinent items during the monthly meeting.
b. To gather, preserve, display, and make available for study artifacts, relics, books, manuscripts, papers, photographs, and other records and materials relating to the history of Friendship, Nile, and the surrounding area: In order to achieve this goal, the historical society produces a newsletter when warranted, DVDs with pertinent historical stories related to Friendship and Nile.
c. To encourage the suitable marking of places of historic places: To achieve that goal, the historical society discusses any news affecting historic places and when warranted, participates in any effort to mark historical places. The town historian acts on behalf of the Historical society for any of those efforts.
