Friends Of Detroit City Airport Community Development Corporation

To expose youth to the fields of aerospace, aviation, engineering, math, science and technology as a career path. This is achieved by sponsoring events at the airport which gives youth a chance to connect with the airport. One such activity is our annual Community Christmas Celebration(Dec 22nd) which Santa is flown into the airport courtesy of the Black Pilots of America and escorted by the Tuskegee Airmen to the delight of one hundred children. To promote and spread goodwill, we give out free toys, books, hats and gloves that have been donated by the community. We serve pizza, beverages, candy canes, fruit and chips to the children and their parents. The "Night Before Christmas" and the "first Nativity" from the Bible is read prior to the arrival of Santa. A toy drive, "Stuff A Plane with Toys" begins on Friday Dec 16th thru Sunday Dec 18, 2016 at the airport, 11499 Conner, Detroit, MI 48213 from noon- 6PM. Students from Detroit Public School Benjamin O. Davis Aerospace Technical High School also assists in the community effort.
