In exactly one week from today I will be running the New York City Half Marathon to raise funds for Free To Run. Free To Run is an organization that helps those Afghan girls that due to false cultural perceptions aren't allowed to run in the outdoors. These girls include my sisters, my cousins, immediate and far relatives, neighbors and other fellow afghans. To be treated as less than men should and must be considered a crime, and to fight against it a commendable cause. Free To Run's cause very dear to me as well as to my fellow runners. It is one that I along with my friends are fighting for at all cost. This half marathon is symbolic of our fight. Raising awareness and funds for Afghan girls and women like those of my villagers who wish to explore the outdoors, run and breathe the fresh air that has been granted to them by God but taken from them by the norm, is why I am running. By contributing to this cause you are enabling these girls and women who have no access to the outdoors (because of the cultural norms) and no access to stationary bikes at home (because of financial reasons) to run freely in the outdoors and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Consider donating $10 - $13 or hoever much you can and help me reach my goal of $1500 by 20th of March.
