BENEFITING: WORLD FAMILY DEVELOPMENT AND EDUCATION PROGRAM
Freedom Rider Diary: Smuggled Notes from Parchman Prison, was published with a commitment by its author, Carol Ruth Silver, to donate its initial royalties to the Freedom Riders Foundation. This has been done.
The Freedom Riders Foundation honors and preserves the history of the Freedom Riders, and makes legacy grants to Freedom Riders in Mississippi who have fallen on hard times.
The Freedom Rides -- in May through November of 1961 -- challenged the long time Southern oppression of African Americans -- and led off the Civil Rights Movement. These brave young people, about half white and half African American, about half from the North and half native Southerners, showed the American people that the time had truly come to redress the wrongs being done to the African American population of the United States.
Our fiscal and tax status for The Freedom Riders Foundation is as a DBA of the World Family Development and Education Program, founded in 1993, which has received a US Federal tax determination letter under Section 501(c)(3) of the US tax code. Thus donations to the Freedom Riders Foundation are tax deductible on your federal income tax form.
Please donate now to continue the work of the Freedom Riders Foundation.
