Francisvale Home for Smaller Animals is a nonprofit, no kill animal shelter located in Radnor, PA that was established in 1909.  In 1897 Dr. and Mrs. George McClellan found and rescued a stray puppy on a cold winter night which they named Francis.  Francis was such a wonderful dog that Mrs. McClellan decided to purchase a large property in Radnor and open a shelter for stray dogs that they named Francisvale Home for Smaller Animals.  Francisvale Home still stands on that same property today and has since opened their doors to both dogs and cats.  Francisvale Home's purpose is to shelter unwanted, abandoned and abused compaion animals; to educate the community on the plight of homeless animals; to ensure that all pets receive any medically necessary treatment, including spay/neuter; provide placement in carefully screened homes; and to manage and care for our on-site pet cemetery.  Francisvale Home also has a collaboration with the Penn Vet behavior department which allows for an intern behaviorist to come to our shelter twice a week and work with our cats and dogs to ensure that all their behavioral needs are met. In addition, all adopters are given three months of free resources with our intern behaviorist to facilitate a smooth and successful adoption!
