SCHOOL’S OUT FOR THE SUMMER!
We're on a mission! A mission to send as many dogs as possible to Summer Camp at School! You may ask yourself... "What do camp and school have to do with dogs?"
Let us explain! We're Friends of the Animals Baton Rouge, a non-profit dog rescue, who not only offer, but encourage, our volunteers to bring their foster dogs to “School” (aka our Adoption House) each day. Our volunteers are able to drop off their foster dog each morning, knowing that while they’re at work their foster will learn necessary skills to help make a successful transition when they find their forever home.
Foster dogs who attend “School” spend time with staff and volunteers working on basic commands, learning socialization, and getting plenty of exercise. To top it all off, the “School” serves as a place where potential adopters and community members can visit with our dogs in a clean and happy environment. We're the only organization in South Louisiana which offers this unique perk to our volunteers.
So why are we fundraising? Well... Schools out for the summer! But that doesn’t mean we close down for break! In fact, the summer months are traditionally when volunteer activity picks-up and we see a rise in adoptions. We’re honored to be taking part in the Saving Pets 2015 Challenge so that we’re able fundraise additional dollars which will allow us to rescue as many dogs as possible. To make it more fun, we’re offering “Doggie Summer Camp Scholarships.” Funding received through scholarships will allow us to provide spay/neuter, heartworm prevention, heartworm treatment (for those who need it), and daily needs to literally hundreds of dogs throughout the summer.
