BENEFITING: Brigham and Women's Hospital
EVENT DATE: Oct 25, 2014
For the Love of Alexa is an event to raise money for The Brigham and Women's NICU in memory of our daughter Alexa. Alexa and her identical sister Gabriella were a rare form of identical twins called Mono Mono twins which had a 50% rate of survival. The girls were born at 27 weeks weighing in at 2 lbs 10 ounces and 2 lbs 3 ounces. On top of the low birth weight Alexa was born with heart disease, a condition called Transposition of the Great Arteries. After 10 procedures, including open heart surgery she passed away at 5 months old at Children's Hospital. The Nurses and Doctors at BWH continued to check in and care for my daughter Alexa even though she only stayed one night before she was rushed over to Children's. The dedication of this staff and the support they gave our family can never be forgotten.
Event will be held at The Chestnut Hill Reservoir on Saturday, October 25th. Registration begins at 11:30AM. Teams have the option to walk/run around the Reservoir followed by food and a raffle at The Cityside Grill and Bar.
