BENEFITING: HEART OF WEST MICHIGAN UNITED WAY
EVENT DATE: Jun 21, 2017
Food From the Heart is a Heart of West Michigan United Way event that assembles ready-to-prepare meals that will be distributed through Feeding America West Michigan Food Bank to food pantries in Kent County. The goal is to assemble 100,000 meals.
1 in 5 children in West Michigan are food insecure. That means more than 25,000 children don’t have consistent access to enough food due to lack of financial resources.
This event happens at Van Andel Arena. The meals have a 2 year shelf life. Last year, this event produced 75,000 meals plus 150 decorated lunch bags for Kids Food Basket with the help of 480 volunteers.
