BENEFITING: Hudson River Sloop Clearwater
EVENT DATE: Nov 10, 2015
The People's Boat Needs YOUR Help!
$25,000 will help replace the center board trunk - Clearwater's backbone.
Nearly 50 years ago, musician and activist Pete Seeger came up with an impossible dream -- build a magnificent wooden boat to save the Hudson River. There was little funding for this project, but the idea was just powerful (and crazy) enough to succeed! To date, over half a million people of all ages have experienced her majesty. This fall, the sloop Clearwater is undergoing the largest, most expensive and complicated overhaul in her storied history. The importance of her presence on the Hudson River cannot be overstated. Clearwater is emblematic of the modern environmental movement and is the last tall ship on the Hudson. The sailing experience is unparalleled blending environmental education, music and local history on the deck of 106 foot wooden sloop. If Clearwater is your boat, we ask that you give generously to support everything she has come to represent.
