BENEFITING: UNITED WAY OF GENESEE COUNTY
While the families of Flint are still in need of water, there has been an outpouring of support to supply water. I'd like to refocus this fundraiser into raising funds for the families who's babies have been senselessly poisoned by their cities drinking water. Many families have already lost their children. Others are facing life long expenses due to irreversible brain damage caused by the lead poisoning. A lot of these families are already living well below the poverty line. Please help me to support them by donating. Even the smallest donation will help a family.
Original: Please help us raising money to supply fresh drinking water for the residents of Flint, Mich. The money raised will be donated to organizations supplying water to residents of Flint, Michigan. The Flint Water Fund. 100% of the money donated goes to buying filters and bottled water for Flint residents. This is a story that you typically don't hear in the US. It seems almost inconceivable that any city in the US would be suffering from lack drinking water or contaminated drinking water for just under a year. The government has been hiding the fact that the water provided to the residence of this impoverished city is contaminated with lead. Hundreds of children exposed to lead and suffering the effects of lead poisoning. The government has allowed this for 9 months. It's January 22. It took from April 2014 until now for the government to issue a state of emergency. It wasn't a mystery that the water was contaminated, but it seems that Gov. Rick Snyder waited until the pot boiled over before he took action to correct a disaster. Some people are comparing the crisis neglect to that of Katrina. The difference? The government didn't cause Katrina, but they did cause the water crisis in Flint, Mich. "I'm sorry and I will fix it," Snyder said near the opening of his speech, directly addressing the residents of Flint. "Government failed you at the federal, state and local level." Yes... Yes you really did. You poisoned them. To say the least.
