WOD for Dogs is a national fund raising event done in CrossFit gyms across the country. Each gym parnters with a local rescue organization and all money raised is split 50/50 between the Wallace the Pit Bill Foundation and the local organization. This year we have chosen River Cities Bully Buddies.
Typically there would be an event paired with the online fund raiser, but with the recent (and unexpectant) loss of Aidan there won't be an offical event this year. Instead we're just collecting donations in Aidan's honor. Aidan never ended up in a shelter, but if he did life would have been very rough, and his behavior would have made him nearly impossible to place. Although he was a high energy, and very reactive dog, I was able to work with him to the point of getting to compete in AKC performance events. He was able to earn his Canine Good Citizen, Rally Novice, Rally Advanced, and Beginner Novice obediece titles. Most of Aidan's accomplishments weren't in the ring and can't be measured, but he became a fantastic demo dog in mu classes and was a great ambassador for bully breed type dogs and rescue dogs, so....here's to Aidan and Wallace and all the dogs like them!
The workout that is typically paired with this even is a doozy, and is meant to mimic behaviors, stressed dogs will do in a kennel/shelter environment. Feel free to give it a try in honor of all the dogs who have had to endure shelter life:
3 Rounds for max reps
1 minute each of
Thrusters 75/55 lbs
KB swings 1.5/1 pood
Jumping Air Squats
5M sprints down and back (each direction is 1 rep)
Thanks for taking the time to donate!
