FeedTheStreets RVA seeks to create a community that responds to the basic human needs of all, while valuing and advancing grassroots efforts that address symptoms of poverty. FeedTheStreetsRVA’s first event was held on November 27, 2016 which allowed us to feed and provide hygiene essentials to over 65 homeless individuals in our community. Our next event, “Feed the Streets Holiday”, we provided food, hygiene care, and winter accessories for over 150 homeless citizens. An overview of the continuous involvement Feed The Streets RVA has had in the community includes preparing 70 hygiene packs with students from Brookland Middle School, sponsoring senior photos for one high school senior, providing groceries for a family of five who was in need, paid off 80 deficient lunch accounts at a local elementary school, and provided pizza to an adult day support program as a random act of kindness. This past May, Feed The Streets RVA held an event titled, “One for One: A Cookout for A Cause” which provided awareness, food and fun to the local Richmond community. All individuals were able to come out enjoy free music, food, and activities free of charge but in an exchange for a donation of a clothing item or nonperishable food item. After the event, all items were donated to a food bank and local shelters of the community. We are striving to continuously contribute and uplift the Richmond, Virginia community.
