BENEFITING: Friedreichs Ataxia Research Alliance Fara
ORGANIZER: Friedreichs Ataxia Research Alliance Fara
In August of 2012, Amy & I received confirmation from our doctors at the Mayo Clinic, that our daughter, Ryanne, who was eight years old at the time has a rare, genetic disorder called Friedreich's Ataxia. Since that day, we have worked hard to live each day in the present rather then focus on what the future may hold. It is truly her smile and love for life, that keeps our family in the present moment and grateful for the simple gifts found in each day.
When the opportunity to join TEAM FARA NYC 2016 came up, I jumped at it. My most recent marathon was in Boston in 2013 and since that time, I've been looking for some motivation to "pound the pavement" again........this is it!!
Team FARA is made up of people who participate in endurance events on behalf of the Friedreich's Ataxia Research Alliance (FARA).
FARA is a non-profit organization dedicated to curing Friedreich's ataxia or FA through research. FA is a, life-shortening, degenerative neuro-muscular disorder that affects 10,000 to 20,000 worldwide.
There is currently no treatment or cure for FA, but FARA is working to change that. Thanks to fundraisers like this, FARA funds basic research, drug development, clinical trials, and scientific conferences to provide hope for a cure. For more information please visit their website curefa.org
Thank you for your thoughts, prayers and donation to FARA. Your consideration for this cause, that is so near and dear to our hearts, is greatly appreciated.
