Faith,family, cancer The Langston journey
Organized by: Justin Langston
My name is Justin Langston 39 years old and I'm in a fight for my life with metastatic melanoma cancer. This is not a cancer that can be beat but I can fight it. I have a large family to raise and this has made an already tough job even tougher. Four years ago l was diagnosed with ocular melanoma(eye cancer), and after many attempts to stop the growth on my eye, they finally removed the problem. The doctors removed my left eye and fitted me with a prostetic eye. Every year I would have a ultrasound done to check for cancer cells in other parts of my body. In August of 2014 they found 3 new spots, one on the stomach and two ,the large ones,on my liver. Had a biopsy done and got the results back. Metastatic melanoma. Confused and devastated by that news we immediately started treatment options. We started out with immunotherapy but after several months of treatment, ct scans showed massive growth. Now I am on chemotherapy treatment that is a week long treatment every two weeks. Missing a lot of work is putting a lot of strain on the family. My 7 children and one grand baby( my oldest daughter is making her own family!) are my world.Maxton and Alexander are my youngest (3 and 5) loves thier daddy and needs me around to help them grow up to big and strong like their daddy! With your help I could spend more precious time with my kids and less time worrying about work. When this all started, I thought i/we could handle it by ourselves, but had no idea how difficult it would become. The missed work, extra trips to the hospital, pharmacy, medical, fuel. Had no idea how tough it was going to be until it happened. Thank you in advance for your help and God bless.
