THE STORY:

Christina Tournant was a talented young woman living her dream as an MIT freshman, but POTS - a form of dysautonomia - robbed her of her hope then her future. One in 100 teens battle POTS, a debilitating form of autonomic dysfunction that varies in treatment but unequivocally alters day to day life. Beyond the numbers are REAL people and REAL suffering as it takes an average of six years to reach a diagnosis; in fact, a handful of my own friends have had their children diagnosed in just the last few years. Your support of the Pi Day 5k is a high five to all the people in our community with POTS along with those that love them. It's also a beautiful way to honor the life of Christina Tournant. Monies raised go directly to The Dysautonomia Project (TDP) which is our community's very own grass roots effort to educate doctors, patients and communities about dysautonomia. Its efforts have reached around the world via it's educational book THE DYSAUTONOMIA PROJECT. I'm privileged to serve as a board member for TDP and have seen first hand the glimmer of hope it provides to so many that have been searching for any ray of hope. Thank you for caring enough to make sure those who are suffering know they matter!
