Equity Trust promotes equity in the world by creating, implementing, or experimenting with new ways of owning, using, and stewarding property. These alternative approaches are important because they help people and communities access levers of economic stability, sustainability, and growth that often are out of reach.

The Equity Trust Fund provides low-interest financing for diverse projects that advance our mission. Our relatively small loan fund has been recycled continuously for over twenty-five years to support community land trusts, small farms, cooperatives, and grassroots nonprofits around the country. The interest we earn from these loans allows us to offer low-cost technical assistance to the next generation of innovators and adopters changing the way people think about and hold property.

Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic and related social distancing and stay-at-home orders are causing some of our borrowers a dramatic loss of customers and income. Some may have to make smaller payments on their loans for a few months or even longer; others may not be able to make any payments at all for a while.

Your donation will help us give those borrowers as much leeway as possible to navigate these difficult times, while ensuring that we can continue to respond to people looking for new ways of interacting with an economy that more than ever needs to be reformed.
