EVENT DATE: Aug 19, 2017
DEADLINE TO GIVE: Aug 19, 2017
OUR MISSION The mission of End Slavery Tennessee is to promote healing of human trafficking survivors and strategically confront slavery in our state.
OUR VISION To create a slave-free Tennessee.
WHAT WE DO... EDUCATING THE PUBLIC
Each year, we speak to 8,000-9,000 professionals and community members, training them to identify and get appropriate help for human trafficking victims they may encounter. Wherever we tell about human trafficking right here in our own backyards, people say, "I had no idea." By increasing awareness, we reduce, bit-by-bit, the freedom traffickers have to operate here. Examples of groups we've trained: Metro School Nurses, Tennessee Juvenile Court judges and staff, National Assoc. of Social Workers (Middle TN branch), Vanderbilt Center for Excellence, Vanderbilt Medical School, Hope Clinic for Women, Universities: Trevecca, Belmont, Volunteer State, Union, Lipscomb, Motlow, ITT, Austin Peay, DCS Intake, DCS Foster Parents, Rutherford Coalition Against Child Abuse, South Central Council on Children and Youth, Soroptimist International, Lion's Club, Brentwood Rotary Int., Women's Conference on Human Trafficking, Centerstone, Family, Youth and Infant (FYI) Division of the Metro Public Health Department, the Sexual Assault Center and Youth Villages. If you would like us to speak at your school, civic group, professional organization, faith community or other group, email our Director of Community Outreach, Jill Rutter, at firstname.lastname@example.org with time, date, audience description, and contact name and number for your organization.
We respond to many requests to replicate in other areas the success of our model, spreading the vision and passion to stand and act as modern day abolitionists to other parts of the state and throughout the US. In Middle Tennessee, to discover the abolitionist in you and find ways to get involved, check out our current volunteer opportunities.
