John Hancock encourages employees to participate in the Boston Marathon by volunteering or running the historic race. A formal, robust training program created for employee runners helps ensure that they have the best Boston Marathon experience possible.
As a participant of the Employee Marathon Training Program, each employee runner is required to raise money for select non-profit organizations. The organizations include causes that have a civic, disability, health and wellness, homelessness and youth and education focus.
The program begins in early November and lasts until Marathon Monday, and includes recommended training schedules for all levels of experience. In addition to regular training clinics and extensive training manuals, the program also offers employees:
Coaching and training insights from 1983 Boston champion Greg Meyer and additional elite athletes
Supported long runs
Social networking opportunities with colleagues
Adidas running apparel
The Employee Marathon Training Program is open to current John Hancock employees only. Visit the John Hancock Non-Profit Program page for more information on the larger non-profit partners program.
