People will always tell you that their sport is the best. I, for one, have tried most of the sports available to kids: soccer, volleyball, basketball, softball, swimming, lacrosse, track, cross country, and more. I decided to try rowing this year because I had, again, heard people rave about how amazing it is and how many valuable lessons it teaches you. It's only been a month, and I can already say that rowers' claims are true. There's so much more to rowing than paddling across a body of water. It's about coordination, team work and being prepared. We don't get a lot of opportunities to talk to our teammates on the water, but just being in the same boat as each other creates an instant, unbreakable camaraderie that is unmatched by any other sport I've tried. I've found that rowing even helps me academically by teaching time management, accountability, and responsibility.
Words cannot describe how proud I am to be a part of the Los Gatos Rowing Club this year. Our team practices hard five days a week for a total of 13 hours each week. We work every muscle in our body and develop extraordinary self discipline. As a team that works so hard, we would love to be able to win, and updated equipment would help tremendously. Any donations, however big or small, will be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance!
