BENEFITING: National Kidney Foundation of Arizona
EVENT DATE: Oct 13, 2018
My name is Elle Sloan, and I am 16-years-old. I am a sophomore at Horizon High School, and a part of their award winning show choir. I discovered my love for singing and performing at a very young age.
When I was 3 I told my mom, “I want to be a singer when I am bigger.” Fast forward 13 years, I am currently spending much of my time outside of school, working with my voice and piano teacher, recording, auditioning, singing national anthems, and performing at many local venues. My focus with my music right now is taking each and every opportunity that comes my way. With every audition and performance, my time spent preparing is just as important as the outcome. Each day I focus on the little lessons I am learning, and continually striving to do my very best.
This past school year, I was privileged to be the only freshman to sing at the Honors Concert, as well as receive a $300 music scholarship. I know how hard my parents work so I am able to do what I love. I do what I can to help in this process. Since age 12, I have been invited to sing the national anthem for the 2017 World Champion, Chicago Cubs, spring training. The Cubs Organization sure know how to make someone feel special, and I have to say the fans are just as amazing! Although I stay politically neutral, when asked to sing the national anthem for President Donald Trump, during his run for presidency in June 2016, without hesitation, I jumped at the opportunity. Definitely a moment in my life I will always remember.
I am excited and honored to be a part of the National Kidney Foundation, Talent Slam 2018! Camp Kidney is devoted to children ages 8 to 18! My wish is that these kids will know that I am here today, because I want to make a difference. For me, music is what allows me to make a difference. Music is not only what I do, Music is who I am.
