Public High Schools are NOT FREE in Jamaica! Students must pay school fees, text books, school supplies, lunch and transportation in order to attend.
An educated girl is an empowered girl who will have opportunities to lift herself out of the poverty and achieve success in life.
13 of our girls are brilliant "A" students: Trevisa, Sarah, Dania, Janneil, Romilla, Savena, Tamia, Shanique, Jada, Nicole, Daniellia, Janet and Danielle! The others are "B" students. We need your help so that all these brilliant girls are educated, and equipped with the necessary tools to become independent, empowered and transform their own lives out of poverty.
PLEASE HELP us send our girls back to high school in Jamaica!

WHO WE ARE:
The Caribbean Education Foundation, Inc. (CEF) is a registered 501(c)(3) tax-exempt, nonprofit organization based in Boston, Massachusetts, USA. We are dedicated to helping briliant, poor children receive meaningful access to quality education. Our current mission country is Jamaica.
WHAT IS THE PROBLEM?
Public High Schools are NOT FREE in Jamaica! High school starts in Grade 7. It costs $1,500 U.S. to send 1 child to public high school each year. Children must pay school fees, textbooks, transportation and lunch, including the usual uniforms and school supplies! The minimum wage is $50 U.S. per week for a 40 hour work week or $200 U.S. dollars per month.
Since its inception in April 2007, CEF has awarded over 40 student scholarships in excess of $50,000 U.S. dollars to brilliant, poor girls to attend school. Our Paul Bogle Scholarships students' pay school fees, textbooks, school supplies, transportation and lunch.
We currently have 30 children on scholarship and 20 are girls. Our 10 boys are being raised by single mothers, as well as our girls!
In addition, CEF is creating a Learning Center in Kingston, to launch in 2014 and provide empowerment programs to girls and critical access to technology.
