Eastmorland Community Association, Inc. (ECA) is a social welfare organization that fosters neighborhood and civic involvement of the neighborhood's residents and businesses. We are registered with the State of Wisconsin as a non-stock, non-profit business under Chapter 181 and are approved by the IRS as a 501 (c) (4) tax-exempt organization.
Our annual dues are $10 for a basic membership and $25 for a sustaining membership. Dues and other money raised (except those donations given specifically to treat ash trees in our neighborhood parks) are used to support neighborhood activities, such as the annual party for volunteers who help to rake the lawns of elderly/disabled persons living in the neighborhood.
In 2015 and 2018, hundreds of wonderful neighbors, friends, and park lovers from all over Madison, Middleton, Rio, Fitchburg, Milwaukee, and even Tel Aviv, Israel, worked together to treat and save some of Eastmorland’s most beautiful park ash trees from being cut down due to emerald ash borer (EAB). We saved 22 trees in Olbrich Park, six in O.B. Sherry, four in Eastmorland Park and one in Ontario park. Together we saved the healthiest, largest ash trees, all 50- 100 years old, with one over 200 years old.
Our park ash trees must be treated every three years according to current city policy. We must have all the treatment funds and treat them again by July 2021. The cost of the treatment in September 2018 was $6,311.23; an increase in the cost is anticipated. Please donate any amount as every dollar adds up to save a beautiful shade tree. DONATE: on the GoFundMe website at www.eastmorland.org/savethetrees or send checks to ECA, P.O. Box 14584 Madison, WI 53708 (memo: Save our park ash trees).
