BENEFITING: DRESS FOR SUCCESS TWIN CITIES
Last week I attended our Employment Readiness Program’s graduation. I love to hear the firsthand experiences of our graduates and one of the comments really stuck with me. This graduate spoke about her first day walking into the doors of Dress for Success Twin Cities, how we treated her with value and made her feel she was worth our time. She had previously defined her worth through her job, her salary, and her role (as many of us do). Without this, she felt she was lacking, but she found her confidence again with the help of Dress for Success Twin Cities.
While on the surface, our employment readiness program provides tools for a woman’s search for employment, we also offer her a network of support, a place to connect, and people who truly believe in her – we offer her confidence, a sense of value, and often times, the inspiration to start anew.
The week of Thanksgiving, I learned that we had lost $25,000 to fund our employment readiness program. I experienced a mix of emotions. I struggled with the loss of that funding and the impact on the future of the program, but I also felt an overwhelming pride in our 280 graduates of this life changing program.
We know that this program is vital to get women back on their feet and find employment. As the year closes, it is my hope that we can keep this program alive to keep their confidence growing and continue their job search. I need your support to do that. Our goal is to raise $25,000 to supplement the loss of these funds.
Anything you can do to help would be greatly appreciated to reach our $25,000 goal.
Please think of the women served by Dress for Success Twin Cities, as you decide your year-end gifting, or plan your gifting for 2017.
Together we can let them borrow our belief in them, until they can find the belief in themselves. Together, we can give them hope.
