Mitch was born and raised in Flint, MI where he attended Powers Catholic High School and graduated in 1979. He holds bachelor’s degrees in Chemistry from Hope College in Holland, MI and in Chemical Engineering from the University of Michigan. He moved south in 1986 and after a brief experience with an environmental engineering firm in Nashville, he began his first career as an engineer in materials and processes laboratory at the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, AL in April 1987.
In 1997 he switched gears after being accepted to the University of Alabama to attend Medical School, where he met his wife Darcy. He graduated in 2001 and completed his residency training in Radiology at the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, LA. He, Darcy and their new baby moved to Bristol in August 2006 where he began working at Bristol Regional Medical Center. Mitch and Darcy have 2 sons, Max 10 and Carson 8. Last August he celebrated 10 years at BRMC and is honored to continue working with an outstanding group of fellow radiologist, technologist, nurses and support staff. Mitch enjoys camping, hiking and spending time on the lake with his family as well as working out at the Y whenever possible.
