Jeffrey Morgan, DO, MA, FACOI, is a general internist and Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Internists. He is a Michigan native, completing medical school at Michigan State University and internal medicine residency at Mt Clemens General hospital in metropolitan Detroit. He moved to Phoenix in 1995 and provided primary care in the west valley for over 18 years. In 2013, he left clinical practice to pursue his interest in medical education and is now serving as dean of A.T. Still University School of Osteopathic Medicine in Arizona (SOMA), located in Mesa.
The mission of ATSU-SOMA is to prepare community-minded osteopathic physicians to meet the unmet healthcare needs of society. SOMA provides early clinical exposure to community oriented primary care, assigning students to Community Health Centers (CHC’s) across the U.S. for their 2nd through 4th year of medical school. Termed the nation’s ‘healthcare safety net’, CHC’s provide healthcare to over 23 million patients in more than 9000 communities regardless of ability to pay; and are responsible for an estimated $24 billion annually in cost savings to the American healthcare system.
Dr. Morgan sees the opportunity to partner with the National Kidney Foundation of Arizona’s Dancing with the Stars as a way to further illuminate the tremendous work being done in CHC’s; and to help contribute necessary funding to our Arizona CHC partners in their effort to mitigate the impact kidney disease has on our society, especially among the underserved. “I thank you for your generous support as I dance to support the National Kidney Foundation of Arizona!”
