Downtown Rescue Mission is a faith-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization serving the homeless, hurting, and hungry in northern Alabama and southern Tennessee.
It’s our mission to serve as a lighthouse in our community for the poor, homeless, and destitute in order to meet their physical and spiritual needs through the life-changing power of Jesus Christ.
The Mission offers clothing, food, and shelter at no charge to the needy in our community. We also offer a year-long program to aid the homeless and guide them back into society. The Mission’s Biblically based 12-month Life Transformation Program is designed to help men and women achieve life-long change and freedom from problems, such as alcoholism and drug addiction, as well as emotional, mental and physical abuse. The program seeks to restore individuals through teaching and modeling solid, Biblical principles and truths in which they can rebuild their lives. During this program, they learn job skills and gather resources to obtain a job. Once they graduate, the Mission also offers Transitional Housing, in which graduates pay a low rate of rent while still staying on the property, close to any resources they may need to help them slowly gain confidence to succeed on their own.
