Doris' gastric Balloon procedure
Organized by: Doris Brooks
I've been suffering with a weight problem for most of my life. I was left with a lot a weight around my mid-section which can cause heart desease, diabetes or Cancer. Three (3) years ago, I got a breast reduction. When the tissues were sent to pathology, very early stage cancer was found in my left breast. Luckily I only had to have radiation and not Chemotherapy. This scared me a lot so I tried to loose weight. For a year, I was on a lot of very unhealthy crash diets. I lost 50 lbs in a year. After loosing so much weight, i had a lot of loose skin on my stomach. The skin was hanging so low that it affected my walking. So last year i got a Tummy Tuck, which I paid for myself. It's been very hard trying not to gain any of the weight. I gained 13 lbs back. I keep resorting back to the crash diets but they are not healthy. I don't want my Cancer to reoccur. I want to loose 50 more pounds and i want to get the Gastric balloon. This is a very non-invasive procedure, which a balloon is inserted through your mouth to your stomach and then filled with saline water. With the Gastric Balloon, I can still eat healthy but eat less because it makes you feel full and you won't want to snack or eat between meals because of the full feeling. I can loose 30-50 lbs in 6 months, then the balloon is removed and there's another 6 months of counceling. My body mass is 30 so that's considered as Obese. The Gastric Balloon is not covered by insurance. The total cost is $10,000. Please help me.
