Dollars for a Dream

The Nerd Machine is an American-based company and website founded by Mr. Levi as an online community to spread the “nerd” culture. For the past three years, Zach and the Nerd Machine have put together an annual event called Nerd HQ that takes place over four days during the same weekend as San Diego Comic Con (July 24-27 this year). The event offers fans exclusive gaming and tech activations, nightly events, and intimate celebrity panels that benefit Operation Smile (more about this later), and, what’s more, all of this is offered to fans for FREE. With that being said, though, the funding strategy the Nerd Machine has been using to produce Nerd HQ is no longer viable due to venue deadlines and the commitments required by the Nerd Machine to properly plan the event. This is where extra help, as well as fans’ and sponsors’ support, is needed most. Every dollar given during the “I Want My Nerd HQ 2014” campaign will initially go towards the production of the event, but 100% of the money raised during the event will be donated to the children’s charity Operation Smile. The venue fees, staging, audio, video, production crew, event lighting, staff, security, and activations are very expensive, so every little bit donated can and does make a difference. Nerd HQ is more than just an amazing and free experience for fans, however. It also provides life-changing operations to children all over the world with the funds contributed by fans during the event for Operation Smile, too, for which Zach has been an ambassador to for several years. To date, the Nerd Machine has raised over $415, 000 for the charity, which is almost 1,700 lives that have been changed forever by fans’ support of Zach, Nerd HQ, and the Nerd Machine. This year, they are hoping to raise even more money for the charity and make 2014’s Nerd HQ the biggest and best one yet.
