Disney College Program: My Opportunity
Organized by: Hailey Simmons
The first time I ever went to Walt Disney World was with my best friend since birth who was part of the Disney College Program. Since my family couldn't afford it, she used her benefits to give my family the vacation we needed but could never afford. After that, I promised my family I would apply so that this time my family can experience more than one day in the most magical place on earth. I'm so honored to have been accepted into this program and have been awaiting the moment that I might be able to join this legacy for years. Unfortunately, as I work very hard in my current position as an In Home Care and Assistance scheduling coordinator, and have invested everything I have into my job and studies, I have a specific schedule/list of all of my funds, where they are going, and what can be rearranged. I was living with my parents an hour away from where I work for seven months before receiving a raise that allowed me to move closer to my office and become more accessible/helpful to the company. Thus, I now pay for everything associated with independent living on an hourly pay rate without familial or governmental assistance. My family would be more than happy to contribute to the total fees and necessities for this offered position, but none of us would be able to gather enough funds for this opportunity within the time frame specified. I would love to be a part of the Walt Disney World Resort family and contribute to making such an honorable establishment as Disney World a magical experience for all who have the ability to experience it.
