The Discovery Center is an award-winning educational diversity, teambuilding, and academic program serving more than 4,000 students from grades 4 - 8 in Connecticut through experiential learning. Founded by Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward in 1992, The Discovery Center is a 501 (c)3 non-profit organization incorporated in the State of CT.
The Discovery Center is committed to building an equitable and just world where everyone has what they need to grow and thrive. We work in partnership with youth, families, schools, and communities to facilitate nurturing spaces where people can understand and challenge systemic racism and oppression. In all of our programs, we practice critical questioning, cultivate connection, and inspire action.
To build equity in education, our programs teach young people and educators from different cultural, racial, and socio-economic backgrounds how to understand, appreciate and support each other. We work with school districts to implement systemic change.
