I did trick-or-treat for UNICEF when I was a child in elementary school, and stopped once in middle school. I began fundraising for UNICEF again when I was a high school senior, and did so up through my senior year of college. At 18, I left a house party early & walked around door to door, dressed like Minnie Mouse in heels, with the little orange box. Although not everyone took me seriously, I raised $100 that year. It was extremely gratifying and inspired me to fundraise each Halloween throughout college. Anyone who knows me knows there is nothing that makes me happier than helping other people, & I have always seen this as an amazing opportunity to give back/help those less fortunate. It's also a great way to have many people contribute to one larger goal. By using the webpage fundraising option, any donations are given directly to UNICEF, & there is no wondering where your money is going. Whether $1, $5, or $10, each contribution makes a difference in the lives of children around the world. In the wise words of my girl Audrey Hepburn, a UNICEF goodwill ambassador, "As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands, one for helping yourself, the other for helping others." This is my first time fundraising in a few years, so I set my goal higher than I have in the past. Although I can't bribe people to donate by writing papers for them as I did in college (sorry Deb Stanley, but it was for the children!!) all donations $10 and over will receive a handwritten letter/surprise from yours truly. :) Thank you so much for taking the time to read this & I hope you decide to contribute.
