I am raising money for She's the First by putting the fate of my hair into your hands!
If I reach my fundraising goal of $1,400, I will dye the ends of my hair teal on April 1st. Yes. TEAL.
I picked teal because it is the color of Sexual Assault Awareness Month, which is April! Therefore, I will be rocking the teal in my hair all of April. That is right: TEAL in my hair for the WHOLE MONTH of April.
Whether you donate $1 or $100 towards my "Dare My Hair" Challenge, all of the money goes to She's the First to educate girls in low-income communities.
Check out what She's the First said about the campaign below:
SHE'S THE FIRST wrote -
Dare to change your hair color, cut or style on April Fools’ Day if you meet your personal fundraising goal. Choose to wear a wig or dye your ‘do—it’s completely up to you!
Why April Fools' Day? April 1st is perhaps the most good-humored, joke-filled day of the year…so why not be part of the fun and prank those around you—with purpose. Your light-hearted new look is your chance to start a conversation about a serious issue that this generation has the power to change:
- 62 million girls around the world are out of school.
- Only 33% of girls enroll in high school in the countries where She’s the First Scholars live–even less make it to graduation.
- Girls with a secondary education earn 18 percent more in future wages, have healthier and smaller families, reinvest wealth in their communities, and ultimately break free of the poverty trap.
Our Goal: Together, we aim to fund 25 scholarships, giving girls in low-income countries the chance they otherwise wouldn't have to attend, and graduate from, high school. In the process, we're sure to turn some heads and start valuable conversations for awareness.
