BENEFITING: COMMITTED 2 COMMUNITY
EVENT: San Francisco Marathon 2011
THE STORY:
Dane Rauschenberg is an extreme runner, speaker and author. His seminars and speeches are known not only as powerful, passionate and engaging but above everything else, encouraging. His first book, See Dane Run has been a breakout hit for both runners of all speeds and those outside the world of running. It empowers people to set goals for themselves and use their passion and strength to reach those goals.
Dane’s exploits are well known in the running world. In 2010 he ran the American Odyssey Relay, a 202 mile event usually reserved for 12 people. Dane did it on his own. He completed the course in just over 50 hours, smashing the time he had set out to run. Prior to that, in 2006, while working a full-time job in Washington D.C., Rauschenberg ran 52 marathons on 52 consecutive weekends. During this year of record breaking running, he also raised over $44,000 for the Mobile, Alabama chapter of L'Arche, an organization which benefits the developmentally disabled.
Dane is racing to raise money for the organizations that do so much for The SF Marathon year after year - the volunteer groups. No marathon would be complete without the organizations that provide the volunteers; let's show them your support! Money raised through Committed 2 Community will go toward grants to various local charities affiliated with The San Francisco Marathon. The mission of Committed 2 Community is to support the community by producing participatory events and programs that will raise money for non-profit organizations or by providing needed services and educational programs to the community.
Dane Rauschenberg currently lives in Salt Lake City. He runs, designs marathons around his speaking schedule and is always planning his next adventure. His book, See Dane Run, is currently available at www.seedanerun.com
