DAD wants to hear again
Organized by: kathy beck
My dads name is Bailey and he has prostate cancer. Thankful the treatments are helping. He loves to fish, going to church and loves to work in his yard. His one man garden and landscaping business kept him busy for 30 years. My mother has Alzheimer's. Between both of them, it is all we can do to pay for their expenses, medical bills, and necessary medications. It breaks my heart when dad says "I wish I could hear what y'all are talking about". His hearing loss is preventing him from having a meaningful conversation with his friends and loved ones. He can not hear us or his grandchildren laughing. My dad has always been active in the church, now he just stay's home because he can not hear the preacher. His hearing aids quit working. Insurance will not cover new hearing aids. Insurance is covering less and less but costing more and more. Being able to hold a conversation, in person or on the phone, with your loved ones or anyone for that matter is now considered a luxury. Our prayers go out every night to help us find a way for him to enjoy his life more. Both of my parents are still able to stay in their home with our help. They raised us, worked 2 jobs and did without to be able to give us what we needed. After they retired my sister and I promised them they will never go to a nursing home as long as we are living. They did not give up on us or throw us away when times were tough. Sometimes we were not the best of children either! I hope that there are enough good people to help my dad hear again. This is a lot of money to raise, any amount will help even if we can only get one hearing aid that would be a blessing. If you are not able to help maybe you know others who might. Thank you for taking the time to read this. God bless all Sincerely hopefull Kathy PS the picture was taken 2 weeks ago. He wanted to fish Jordan lake and that was the first time he has been able. We are making as many of his wishes that we can come true. My mother out fished him!
