The vest has been passed!
September 06, 2018
Our current Comfort Dog, Zoey, has been very busy with her ministry and could use some help! We are seeking a second Comfort Dog who will have a similar ministry plan/job description to the one Zoey has: enhance the emotional climate of our campus and build community, work in classrooms (including clinical and fieldwork sites), do community outreach, and deploy to national crises or tragedies.
In order to help Comfort Dog Zoey and the CUW community we need to raise at least $20,000:
$15,000=the cost to purchase a Comfort Dog which includes a year’s worth of care, feeding, veterinary costs, highly specialized training, and fees for certification
Any donations received after the initial $15,000 to purchase a Comfort Dog will go toward care related expenses (food, beds, leashes, vet, grooming, etc.)
In addition, the new Comfort Dog will have a focus in the School of Health Professions and will allow CUW to offer a certificate program where students in the Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Speech-Language Pathology programs will learn how to effectively incorporate the use of a dog in animal assisted therapy and enhance the students' professional vocation. Students will work with the Comfort Dog and patients on campus and in the community. Please donate to support this effort by clicking on the orange “DONATE to this fundraiser” button.
