A Day at the Nursery
April 29, 2018
BENEFITING: CRISIS NURSERY
ORGANIZER: CRISIS NURSERY
EVENT DATE: Apr 28, 2018
They say it takes a village to raise a child. They say it's easier when you have a network of people to support you through life's ups and downs. And while I do not have any children of my own, I serve as one of those proud 'village members' for family and friends. Unfortunately, not everyone has family/friends nearby to provide that support when unexpected circumstances arise. Thankfully though, our community has an amazing organization like Crisis Nursery! *insert happy emojis here*
Crisis Nursery is the only free 24/7/365 emergency child-care facility in the area, and families from all walks of life utilize the nursery. Some examples? One mom was undergoing chemo for breast cancer, had no family in town, and nowhere to take her infant son while she went in for treatment. Another mom was experiencing severe postpartum depression and not only needed help caring for her newborn, but also needed support for herself. The nursery provided care for these families. And thousands of others.
I have been involved with the nursery for over four years; first as a community/events committee member and more recently as a board member. I am so proud to be involved with an organization that plays such an essential role in the lives of so many people. I'm even more excited to be FundRacing for Crisis Nursery for my first ever Half Marathon. I hope you'll consider donating to either my page or any of the other runners runnning for Crisis Nursery. Thanks for stopping by!
