THE STORY:

Christian Peacemaker Teams I Equipos Cristianos de Acción por la Paz

We are an international organization working as allies for and partnering with communities who are threatened with displacement and violence. We support their initiatives to resist oppression nonviolently and promote justice and peace.

You can support us by donating and becoming a part of our team to help us reach this goal.

We work together on grassroots initiatives to expose and transform structures of domination and oppression through active nonviolence in order to make possible a world grounded in respect, justice and love, even of enemies.

The journey of nonviolent change is a long one. I witnessed this firsthand in March of 2012 when I visited the rural Colombian communities of Garzal and Nueva Esperanza. These campesino communities are under pressure to leave the land where they have lived for generations and have been subject to violence, death threats and displacement. It was inspiring to see how committed they were to continuing to assert their rights to land and dignity without violence. Earlier this year, there was some positive news, as the branch of the Colombian government that oversees land claims has been investigating their claim.

Also inspiring is the story of Las Pavas, another farming community which has been working against a multinational palm oil producer who sought to remove them from their land and begin monocultural palm production. The corporation's claim has been nullified by the government, which is a huge step for the people of Las Pavas.

You can also find out more about our teams who are furthering the work of peace in Palestine, Iraqi Kurdistan, and in US/Canada - Aboriginal Justice.

Your support and advocacy for us this holiday season is vital. Most of our funding comes from individual donors and small institutions. This work cannot happen with out your voice and financial contributions.

If we raise the highest amount during the Mozilla Firefox Challenge (Nov 19, 2012 - Jan 10, 2013) Firefox will contribute $50,000 to our organization -- which will go a long way to further this vital work!

You can support us by donating and becoming a part of our team to help us reach this goal. If you have any question on how this works, let us know. SHARE THE WORD!
