EVENT DATE: Oct 24, 2011
The "Courting the Future" Project seeks to empower a new generation of leaders in the countries which have emerged from the former Yugoslavia. Through the work of a U.S.-based NGO, "Learning About Justice" coloring books and crayons have been developed and provided to primary schools in rural areas to ensure that a new generation (children born following ethnic conflicts of the 1990s and early 2000s) will have the opportunity to learn about the importance of equality, tolerance, democracy, and the Rule of Law. Coloring books and classroom curricula are developed by local artists and primary school teachers at no cost. The series includes: "Learning About Responsibilities," "Learning about Law" and "Learning About Judges." Individual coloring books are produced for fewer than 50 cents per copy and crayons are provided for fewer than 1 dollar.
The "Courting the Future" fundraising campaign will provide funds directly for the production of coloring books and crayons--reaching thousands of students beginning on European Justice Day, October 24, 2011. Donations for this campaign will be excepted through October 24, 2011.
