On April 10, 2012, SSG Travis Mills was critically injured by an IED. His sustained injuries left him a quadruple amputee - one of only five to survive the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Today, SSG Mills is still a proud father, husband, small business owner, NY Times best-selling author, and mentor to other veterans. The Travis Mills Foundation is building a national retreat for veterans and their families. Our 11,000 square foot facility will welcome combat injured veterans and their families to Maine for a week for an all-inclusive, all-expenses paid, barrier-free vacation with adaptive outdoor recreation and relaxation. While attending our retreat, veteran families get to enjoy getting back to normal amongst others who have a shared experience. In 2017, the retreat will welcome 56 families from across the United States. The funds we raise through this CrowdRise help us Complete The Retreat! We have some final construction costs and ground work to happen before we can open the doors to welcome our families.
