Community Farmers Markets (CFM) is a 501c3 non-profit organization based in Atlanta Georgia that focuses on local food access. The mission of CFM is to develop a local food infrastructure for long term sustainability and meaningful community impact. Our purpose is to preserve, root, and grow a diverse local food culture by maintaining an authentic space for all people to share community, fair food, and healthy lifestyles while providing a sustainable living for producers who steward the earth. We envision a future in which Atlanta will be home to a diverse, interconnected food system that promotes healthy food, sustainable ecosystems, and living wage working conditions. We are the largest farmers market organization in the Southeast. In order to create real “food access” and security there needs to be a combination of 1) Varying distribution outlets including farmers markets, farm stands, and mobile markets 2) Education, training, and support for vendors and consumers, and 3) Financial incentives. CFM currently operates five weekly markets in Dekalb and Fulton counties and co-operates five Fresh MARTA Markets. These markets serve diverse communities with an emphasis on outreach in low-income and low access neighborhoods.
