BENEFITING: Saint Paul Area Synod Elca
EVENT DATE: Oct 01, 2017
Caroline Harthun Wooldridge
On October 2, 2016, my dad suffered a stroke that would eventually claim his life on March 23, 2017. The Twin Cities Marathon on October 1st bookends what has been a tumultuous year. I run in his honor, his memory, as well as for health. I am a pastor, and running has always kept me grounded, centered, connected: physical, spiritual, mental, and emotional. I have never run a marathon before, and I chose this one, as the timing is not just a coincidence. It personally means a lot, and I also want to help others in the process. Therefore, half of the funds I raise will go to the American Heart Association (as Dad had congestive heart failure), and the other half will go to the mission development/redevelopment work of the Saint Paul Area Synod, ELCA. Being a pastor, I have a passion for and am open to new ideas to reach out to people who might not have set foot in a church, to those who feel like they have been hurt by the church, and to those who wonder where they fit in.
