BENEFITING: FRIENDS OF OSCAR MAYER SCHOOL
EVENT DATE: May 30, 2014
Mayer Magnet's Walkathon builds awareness around the importance of a healthy lifestyle for children. By working together to promote health and wellness, we can create a generation of physically fit children who have healthy bodies and minds.
By walking laps around Trebes Park, the park adjacent to the school, the students raise money through pledges they have secured for Mayer Magnet School in addition to the generous sponsors.
The money raised will go towards funding school expenses that supplement the students’ learning, but are not covered by the CPS budget. Some examples includes teaching assistants, field trip buses, books, sports equipment, school supplies. All of these are essential in providing Mayer students with a stellar educational experience.
Last year's walkathon included over 600 students and over 100 companies, the Mayer Magnet faculty, parents and volunteers. We are working towards a goal of $100,000 this year. Please help us in reaching that goal!
