BENEFITING: Paradox Sports
Hi, my name is Zach Bloom. I'm a Senior from Hopkins School in New Haven, Connecticut. One of the opportunities afforded to me by my school is to undergo a self guided project during my senior year. For this project, I have elected to rock climb for charity. I have been rock climbing since I was nine years old. It is a passion, a release, and an escape. It takes me to beautiful places and allows me to engage with nature.
Unfortunately, due to physical disability, many people are unable to engage in human powered sports. Paradox Sports is a fantastic organization which provides those with physical disabilities with the opportunity to participate in outdoor activities by designing specialized prosthetics and leading trips. If you would like to learn more about Paradox Sports, you can visit http://paradoxsports.org/.
For six weeks, starting on Monday, March 28th, I will be climbing the vertical height of Mount Everest (29,029ft) at gyms and crags throughout Connecticut. While I do this, I will be maintaining a blog in which I discuss the experience, as well as the history, geography, and politics of Everest. All the while, I will be collecting donations and pledges from the community for this excellent cause. To follow the project, visit http://twenty-ninetwenty-nine.blogspot.com/.
I encourage everybody to donate however much they can to this wonderful organization. The money can do a lot more fulfilling somebody's dreams than it can in your pocket. Thank you!
