- Half of the world's hospital beds are filled with people suffering from waterbourne illnesses.

-1.8 million people die each year from preventable waterbourne disease. 90% are children under the age of 5.

-An American taking a five-minute shower uses more water than a typical person in a developing country uses in a whole day.

-Every 19 seconds a mother loses one of her children to a water related illness

-Even though about 70 percent of the earth's surface is covered by water, less than 1 percent is available for human use.

-884 million people lack access to safe water supplies; approximately one in eight people

-The water and sanitation crisis claims more lives through disease than any war claims through guns

-443 million school days are lost each year due to water-related diseases

-Nearly 1 out of every 5 deaths under the age of 5 worldwide is due to a waterrelated  disease

Hiii and thanks for checking out my fundraiser.

I will be traveling to Tamale, Ghana for three weeks this winter to help improve the poor water quality in one of many small villages. I am going as a member of the Community Water Solutions Fellowship and will be working with a team to develop a sustainable water business for a local community. "These businesses employ inexpensive and simple water treatment technologies."  Local resources and simple technologies will be used for the water treatment and the local people will be taught how to use them. The system will be made to service the villagers long after my team and I leave for many lives of clean water.

Water is one of the few necessities to life. Many people in Africa and all around the world are unable to access safe, palatable water. Any little change today makes a difference tomorrow. Please help me make a long-lasting difference to the lives of these villagers and consider making a donation to this cause.

"What truly makes the CWS idea new and innovative is that we implement for-profit water businesses that are owned and operated by the communities we serve and use low-cost local technologies. This distinctive combination empowers people in rural areas to take control of their own water quality. As a result CWS is uniquely positioned to provide a sustainable source of safe drinking water in rural areas."

please note: CWS is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation. All donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
