EVENT DATE: Nov 06, 2016
Hello all! Firstly, thank you for checking out my fundraising page - I'm unbelievably excited to run in this year's TCS New York City Marathon on behalf of CitySquash. Even before becoming a CitySquash mentor in 2014, I was lucky to have had CitySquash alums as teammates at Middlebury as well as opponents from Bates, F&M, and countless other schools. I can wholeheartedly say every CitySquash player I've encountered is dedicated, hardworking, and sportsmanlike to a T. I am now a proud mentor of Kimberly, a rising seventh grader in the Bronx. After only two years of being her mentor, it's evident how much of an instrumental role CitySquash plays in her life, both academically and athletically, and I can't wait to be a part of her journey through the next couple years until college.
Through this fundraiser, I hope you'll join me in supporting this incredible organization and group of kids to ensure every CitySquash mentee can fulfill his/her potential. Thank you in advance for your kindness and generosity and looking forward to November 6th and 26.2 miles!
CitySquash is a not-for-profit after-school enrichment program based in the Bronx at Fordham University and in Brooklyn at Poly Prep. The organization helps motivated and talented young people from economically disadvantaged households fulfill their academic, athletic and personal potential.
Founded in 2002, CitySquash serves 192 elementary, middle, high school and college students. For our participants, CitySquash is an intensive, year-round commitment that includes squash, tutoring, mentoring, community service, travel, culture, high school placement, college prep, and career support. CitySquash begins working with students in third grade and serves them through college graduation.
